What is cork?

Our main raw material is cork, a completely natural, renewable and biodegradable material that comes from the Cork Oak.

A sustainable material with multiple qualities.

Cork, a material full of possibilities that, due to its completely natural origin, which can also be renewed and is biodegradable, comes from a typical Mediterranean tree “the Cork Oak”.

It is made up of dead cells whose interior is filled with a gas similar to air. The walls of these cells are basically composed of suberin and cerin, substances that make it fireproof, flexible and rot-proof.

Cork is an element with unique properties and to date it has not been possible to artificially reproduce anything that has the same properties. This makes it an extraordinary material, very versatile and inimitable.

The world production of cork amounts to 340,000 tons, of which 30% is produced in Spain.
